Career and Achievements

Nico Franchini’s Biography

Nico Franchini, tenor, was born in Putignano in 1992 and currently resides in Rutigliano, in the province of Bari (Italy). He began his vocal studies under the guidance of soprano Francesca Ruospo.

He has taken part in numerous masterclasses with internationally renowned artists, including Vincenzo Scalera, Stefania Bonfadelli, Elizabeth Norberg-Schulz, Vittorio Terranova, Chris Merritt, Roberto Servile, Alfonso Antoniozzi, Roberto De Candia, Silvia Dalla Benetta, and Francesco Meli.

He was selected to attend the first Advanced Training Academy of the Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa, and since 2022, he has been continuing his vocal refinement under Maestro Salvatore Cordella.

As a soloist, he has performed in numerous concerts both in Italy and abroad, including the Concert Lyrique à Rixensart in Brussels; a Lyrical Concert at the Teatro Garibaldi in Bisceglie with the Ukrainian National Symphony Orchestra of Kyiv; and a Mozart Tribute Concert for the Biennale delle Memorie, organized in collaboration with the Treccani Institute and conducted by Ettore Papadia.

Among his operatic roles, he has performed Rodolfo (La Bohème) in concert form conducted by Donato Renzetti; Conte Ivrea (Un giorno di regno) under Sesto Quatrini; Cornelia (a travesti role in Il trionfo dell’onore) at the Festival della Valle d’Itria in Martina Franca; Don Luigino (Il viaggio a Reims) under Michele Spotti in the Lombardy circuit; and the Poet Abbot (Andrea Chénier) under Michele Gamba at the Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari.

He has also sung Conte d’Almaviva (Il barbiere di Siviglia) at the Teatro Mercadante in Altamura (BA); the Fisherman (Guillaume Tell) in the Lombardy circuit; Poisson (Adriana Lecouvreur) at the Fondazione Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari; and the Turkish Envoy (Der Bürger als Edelmann by R. Strauss) conducted by Michele Spotti during the 46th Festival della Valle d’Itria.

He has portrayed Nemorino (L’elisir d’amore) at the Fondazione Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari, the Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa, the Royal Opera House in Muscat, the Teatro Sociale in Como, and the Teatro Lirico in Cagliari. At the Teatro Carlo Felice, he also performed the roles of Beppe/Arlecchino in Pagliacci by Leoncavallo.

He sang Rodolfo (La Bohème) at the Tirana National Theatre of Opera and Ballet, and Alfredo Germont (La Traviata) at the Teatro Unione in Viterbo.

He performed alongside Leo Nucci under the baton of Donato Renzetti in a concert dedicated to Giusy Devinu, and gave a concert at the Teatro Filarmonico in Verona.

Franchini was a finalist and winner of the “L’Opera” magazine award at the International Singing Competition “G. Devinu” held at the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari. He was also a winner (idoneo) of the 69th AsLiCo Competition (2018) and winner of the 70th AsLiCo Competition (2019).

He received second prize at the Tommaso Traetta International Opera Competition (2023), first prize at the Tito Schipa International Opera Competition (2023), and first prize at the 12th Fausto Ricci Competition (2024).
