Aida Pascu’s Biography

Early Life and Musical Education

Romanian soprano Aida Pascu was born in Bucharest into a family of opera singers and received musical training from an early age. She graduated from the National University of Music Bucharest and the National Academy of Music “Gheorghe Dima” in Cluj-Napoca.

She later attended masterclasses with Gabriela Beňačková in the Czech Republic and worked with Larisa Gergieva, Eleonora Pacetti, and Boiko Tzvetanov in Romania. Pascu also studied at the Conservatorio “Vecchi-Tonelli” in Modena, where she received a two-year scholarship from the New Bulgarian University for the Vocal Technique and Interpretation Masterclass with the legendary soprano Raina Kabaivanska, who remains an important artistic mentor.

Operatic Career

Aida Pascu’s operatic career gained momentum in 2022 with her debut as Mimì in Puccini’s La bohème at the Sofia National Opera. The following year, she expanded her repertoire with Donna Anna in Mozart’s Don Giovanni at the Romanian National Opera in Cluj-Napoca and Nedda in Leoncavallo’s Pagliacci at the Stara Zagora Opera in Bulgaria.

Mimì soon became one of the central roles of her early career. Pascu later performed the role at the Bucharest National Opera, Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, and Deutsche Oper Berlin. In 2025, La bohème also brought her to Glyndebourne, marking an important step in her international career.

In 2024, she made another significant debut as Elcia in Rossini’s Mosè in Egitto. The production was presented at the Teatro Comunale Pavarotti-Freni in Modena, Teatro Municipale in Piacenza, and Teatro Municipale Valli in Reggio Emilia.

Recent concert engagements include performances with the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra in late 2024 and early 2025. In March 2025, she also appeared with the Orchestre des Nations in Geneva. Later that year, she performed at the Festival de La Chaise-Dieu in France.

These appearances complement her operatic work and reflect a musical profile that embraces both staged repertoire and concert performance.
