Tenor Kazuki Yoshida will appear as Errico “Settebellizze” in Napoli Milionaria, Nino Rota’s celebrated opera based on the play by Eduardo De Filippo, at the Teatro Comunale di Bologna (Comunale Nouveau) from June 12 to June 17, 2026.

This production marks a significant milestone for the theatre, as Napoli Milionaria will be presented for the first time in the history of the Teatro Comunale di Bologna, bringing one of the most distinctive works of twentieth-century Italian opera to a new audience.

Nino Rota and Eduardo De Filippo: A Unique Operatic Collaboration

Derived from Eduardo De Filippo’s iconic post-war drama, Napoli Milionaria combines powerful theatrical storytelling with Nino Rota’s unmistakable musical language. The opera portrays the struggles, hopes, and resilience of a Neapolitan family navigating the difficult years surrounding World War II.

Rota, internationally renowned for his film scores and long collaboration with Federico Fellini, created a work that seamlessly blends lyricism, realism, and emotional depth. The result is an opera that remains profoundly relevant and deeply moving.
