Chuan Wang

A native of China, Chuan Wang studied voice at the Conservatory of Guangzhou, where he earned his first-level diploma in 2012. He continued his studies in Italy at the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory of Milan, graduating with top marks in 2016. He enriched his experience through various performances, including Ernesto in Don Pasquale, Tonio in Ponchielli’s I Promessi Sposi, Nemorino in L’elisir d’amore, and Orff’s Carmina Burana. He also participated in masterclasses and distinguished himself in several important international singing competitions.

In 2017, he was admitted to the Academy of Lyric Opera at La Scala, where he had the opportunity to make his debut in several Academy productions: as Almaviva in the children’s version of Il barbiere di Siviglia; as Calaf in Cherubini’s Alì Babà, conducted by Paolo Carignani and staged by Liliana Cavani; as Nemorino in the children’s version of L’elisir d’amore; and as Rinuccio in Gianni Schicchi, directed by Woody Allen and conducted by Ádám Fischer. He also took part in Khovanshchina, a new production by Mario Martone conducted by Valery Gergiev.

Among his recent and upcoming projects are: the Duke in Rigoletto, conducted by Daniel Oren in the historic staging by Gilbert Deflo; Ramiro in the children’s version of La Cenerentola; and the tenor role in the world premiere of Madina, all at La Scala. He also performed as Liebenskof in Il viaggio a Reims at the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro; as Gernando and Ubaldo in Rossini’s Armida in Marseille; as Don Ramiro in La Cenerentola at Teatro Coccia in Novara; and in Ermione and Armida at the Wildbad Festival. He has also sung in Il barbiere di Siviglia in Macao, Cagliari, La Scala and Novara; in La Cenerentola again in Cagliari; in Turandot at La Scala and in Tel Aviv; and in Roméo et Juliette at the NCPA in Beijing. In La Cenerentola again at La Scala.
