Luca Dall’Amico’s Biography

Early Career and Teatro alla Scala

Born in Vicenza, Italy, Luca Dall’Amico is one of the most promising Italian basses of his generation. He graduated with honours in trombone, organ, and composition from the Conservatorio di Musica di Vicenza. He later studied voice with Sherman Lowe, Stefano Gibellato, and Roberto Scandiuzzi.

In 2009, Riccardo Muti selected him for the role of Agamemnon in Iphigénie en Aulide at the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma. Shortly afterwards, Dall’Amico made his debut at the Teatro alla Scala in Pizzetti’s Assassinio nella Cattedrale.

Collaboration with Riccardo Muti

Since 2009, Luca Dall’Amico has enjoyed a regular artistic collaboration with Riccardo Muti. Under his baton, he has performed Banco in Macbeth, Zaccaria in Nabucco, Jacopo Loredano in I Due Foscari, Fiesco in Simon Boccanegra, and the title role in Attila.

He also took part in the prestigious Le Vie dell’Amicizia concerts in 2011 and 2013, performing in Ravenna, Mirandola, and Nairobi. In 2015, he appeared in the Concerto al Quirinale, broadcast on the Italian television channel RAI 1.

In 2012, he performed the role of Attila in concert at La Sapienza University in Rome, with Riccardo Muti at the piano.

Operatic Repertoire

Dall’Amico’s repertoire includes a wide range of major bass and bass-baritone roles. Among them are Don Giovanni and Don Alfonso in Così fan tutte, as well as Figaro and the Count in Le nozze di Figaro. His Mozart repertoire also includes Publio in La clemenza di Tito.

His Rossini roles include Selim in Il turco in Italia, Mustafà in L’italiana in Algeri, and Alidoro in La Cenerentola. In the bel canto repertoire, he has performed Oroveso in Norma, Rodolfo in La sonnambula, and Raimondo in Lucia di Lammermoor.

His repertoire also includes Frère Laurent in Roméo et Juliette, Timur in Turandot, Colline in La bohème, and Pagano in I Lombardi alla prima crociata.

Among his Verdi roles are Ramfis and the King in Aida, Procida in I vespri siciliani, Ferrando in Il trovatore, Sparafucile in Rigoletto, Banco in Macbeth, Zaccaria in Nabucco, Fiesco in Simon Boccanegra, and the title role in Attila.

Italian and International Engagements

Luca Dall’Amico has appeared at many of Italy’s leading opera houses and festivals. These include Teatro alla Scala, the Rossini Opera Festival, Teatro La Fenice in Venice, Teatro San Carlo in Naples, and the Arena di Verona.

He has also performed at the Macerata Sferisterio Opera Festival, Teatro Olimpico di Vicenza, Teatro Mario Del Monaco di Treviso, and Teatro Pavarotti di Modena.

Further Italian engagements have taken him to Teatro Donizetti di Bergamo, the Puccini Festival in Torre del Lago, Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Teatro Regio di Parma, and Teatro dell’Opera di Roma.

On the international stage, Dall’Amico has performed at Teatro Real in Madrid, the Salzburg Festival, Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, Seoul Arts Center, and Tokyo Bunka Kaikan.

His international appearances also include the Royal Opera House Muscat, Wexford Festival Opera, Liverpool Philharmonic Hall, Opernhaus Graz, Teatro Nacional de São Carlos in Lisbon, and Lithuanian National Opera in Vilnius.

He has also appeared at the Macedonian Opera in Skopje, the Kölner Philharmonie, Opéra Royal de Wallonie, Rossini in Wildbad, Nagoya Opera Festival, and Théâtre de la Ville de Luxembourg.

Conductors and Stage Directors

Throughout his career, Luca Dall’Amico has collaborated with internationally renowned conductors. They include Riccardo Muti, James Conlon, Myung-Whun Chung, Christoph Eschenbach, Gianluigi Gelmetti, Daniele Callegari, Daniel Oren, Speranza Scappucci, Paolo Arrivabeni, Stefano Ranzani, and Gianluca Martinenghi.

He has also worked with distinguished stage directors including Pier Luigi Pizzi, Cristina Mazzavillani Muti, Massimo Gasparon, Franco Zeffirelli, Marco Gandini, Francesco Micheli, Damiano Michieletto, and others.

Selected Recent Engagements

Among his notable recent engagements, Dall’Amico performed Raimondo in Lucia di Lammermoor and Elmiro in Rossini’s Otello at the Opéra Royal de Wallonie-Liège.

He sang Selim Pacha in Rossini’s Il turco in Italia at the Opéra Grand Avignon.

At the Théâtre Royal de La Monnaie, he appeared as Maurevert in Meyerbeer’s Les Huguenots, in a production presented in co-production with the Opéra national du Rhin.

He also returned to La Monnaie as Betto di Signa in Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi.

Current and Upcoming Engagements

In 2026, Luca Dall’Amico continues his international career with a series of major operatic engagements. At the Teatro Regio di Torino, he appears as the Medico in Verdi’s Macbeth under the baton of Riccardo Muti.

He also returns to the Royal Opera of Wallonia in Liège for Donizetti’s Lucrezia Borgia, singing Don Apostolo Gazella, and for Verdi’s Otello, in the role of Lodovico. Later in the season, he appears there again as the Medico in Macbeth.

Further 2026 engagements include Conte Capulet in Gounod’s Roméo et Juliette at the Teatro Lirico Giuseppe Verdi di Trieste and Lorenzo in Bellini’s I Capuleti e i Montecchi at the Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa.
