Tianxuefei Sun’s Biography

Graduated from the Military Culture College of the National Defense University (formerly the PLA Academy of Arts) and the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory of Milan, where he obtained a Master’s Degree in Vocal Performance.

He began studying voice at an early age under the guidance of several distinguished teachers and has received numerous national, provincial, and municipal awards.

At the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory of Milan, he studied under Professors Cristina Rubin and Antonio Tessoni. He subsequently continued his vocal training with renowned tenor Professor Dai Yuqiang. During his studies in Italy, he also received guidance from distinguished artists and educators including Ernesto Palacio, Luca Canonici, and Marco Berti.

He was invited to participate in the Rossini Young Artist Program, where he received high praise from Maestro Ernesto Palacio and tenor Juan Diego Flórez. He was also admitted to Buriram Rajabhat University in Thailand, where he is pursuing a doctoral degree under the guidance of Professor Dai Yuqiang.

He was selected for the Young Artist Program of Teatro di San Carlo in Naples, where he studied under the legendary soprano Mariella Devia and performed several roles on stage.

Among his major competition achievements, he won Gold Awards for Chinese Art Songs and Foreign Art Songs, as well as a Silver Award for Opera Arias in the student category at the National Opera Showcase for Art Institutes in China. He was also selected as a formal participant in the Suzhou Opera Masterclass hosted by Yin Xiumei and Dai Yuqiang, receiving coaching from them and Chi Liming.

He won the Silver Prize at the Beijing Division of the Golden Bell Awards and received the Silvia Varruba Foundation Prize at the “Giuseppe di Stefano” International Vocal Competition. At the “Giulio Neri” International Vocal Competition, he won the Best Donizetti Interpretation Award and received high acclaim from the renowned baritone Leo Nucci.

His operatic repertoire includes Conte Belfiore in Rossini’s Il viaggio a Reims, Alfredo in La Traviata, Gaston in La Traviata, Alberdo in L’Impostore, Don Chisciotte in Don Quixote, Attalo in Rossini’s Ermione, Achille di Rosalba and La Guardia in Il cappello di paglia di Firenze, Benvolio in Gounod’s Roméo et Juliette, Terzo Jude in Salome, Joe in La fanciulla del West, Paolino in Il matrimonio segreto, Pang in Turandot, and Arturo in Lucia di Lammermoor.

He has performed at prestigious venues and festivals including Teatro di San Carlo in Naples, Teatro alla Scala in Milan, Teatro Coccia, Teatro Bonoris, Teatro San Rocco, Teatro San Giuseppe, the Auditorium of the Louvre in Paris, Guangzhou Opera House, Shaanxi Grand Theatre, and the Rossini Opera Festival.

At the Rossini Opera Festival, he performed alongside internationally acclaimed artists including Juan Diego Flórez, Anastasia Bartoli, and Enea Scala in Rossini’s Ermione. The production received the Abbiati Prize for Best Production, one of the most prestigious awards in Italian classical music.

His recent performances include Benvolio in Roméo et Juliette, Terzo Jude in Salome, Joe in La fanciulla del West, and Paolino in Il matrimonio segreto at Teatro di San Carlo; Alfredo in La traviata at Guangzhou Opera House; Pang in Turandot at Shaanxi Grand Theatre; Don Chisciotte in Paisiello’s Don Chisciotte della Mancia and Arturo in Lucia di Lammermoor at Teatro di San Carlo; and Adraste in Rossini’s Le siège de Corinthe at the Rossini Opera Festival.

Tianxuefei Sun continues to develop an international career as a tenor, combining a strong classical vocal foundation with extensive experience in opera, concert performance, and international artistic collaborations.
