Career and Achievements
Anna Maria Chiuri’s Biography
Anna Maria Chiuri graduated from the Conservatory of Parma and refined her technique with the tenor Franco Corelli.
She has earned acclaim in leading Verdi roles, including Aida at the Opéra Royal de Wallonie in Liège and at Teatro Regio in Turin under Gianandrea Noseda; Don Carlo at La Scala in Milan under Fabio Luisi, also performed in Tokyo; Ulrica in Un Ballo in Maschera in Liège and at the NCPA in Beijing; Il Trovatore at La Fenice in Venice, Piacenza, and Reggio Emilia; and La Forza del destino at the Sferisterio in Macerata.
Her repertoire also spans Puccini (Suor Angelica, Il Trittico under Riccardo Chailly), Strauss (Elektra and Salome, including the Salzburg Festival under Franz Welser-Möst and her Bolshoi Theatre debut), and major concert works, from Prokofiev’s Alexander Nevsky to Mahler’s Second Symphony, as well as Rossini, Granados, Donizetti, Weinberger, Wagner, Mendelssohn, Cilea, Gnecchi, and Korngold. She has performed in prestigious venues such as Carnegie Hall, Harris Theater Chicago, Roy Thomson Hall Toronto, Palau de la Música Barcelona, and the Teatro Massimo in Palermo.
At the Teatro Filarmonico in Verona, she debuted as Adalgisa in Norma (2017) and later appeared as Herodias in Salome. She sang Ulrica in Un Ballo in Maschera (2023) and was a soloist in Bruckner’s Te Deum for the inauguration of the 2024 Symphony Season. She will return in 2025 as Klytaemnestra in Strauss’s Elektra.
At the Arena di Verona, she debuted as Amneris in Aida (2017) and has reprised the role in subsequent festivals and concert performances, including the 2025 Opera Festival. She has also collaborated with Riccardo Muti and performed in major symphonic works, including Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony at the 101st Opera Festival.
