Career and Achievements

Born in Caserta, the baritone Francesco Landolfi has played the main Verdi and Puccini roles in prestigious international theaters, under the direction, among others, of Riccardo Muti, confirming himself as one of the most interesting Italian interpreters of his generation.
He has been a guest in theaters: Deutsche Oper Berlin, Opera di Lipsia, Staatstheater di Monaco, Oper Frankfurt, Staatsoper Stuttgard, Theater Klagenfurt, Art Music Center di Seoul, Royal Opera House Muscat in Oman, Theater National Bahrain – Manama, Teatro Bunka Kaikan di Tokio, Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, Teatro Coccia di Novara, Opèra de Limoges, Opèra di Toulon, Teatro Municipale di Piacenza, Kumamoto Theater, Shitzuoka Theater, Teatro Petruzzelli di Bari, Teatro Lirico di Cagliari, Teatro Bellini di Catania, Bunkamura di Tokio.
He has collaborated with directors such as Riccardo Muti, Renato Palumbo, Bruno Bartoletti, Omer Meir Wellber, Julian Kovatchev, Corrado Rovaris, Giampaolo Bisanti, Fabio Luisi, Stefano Ranzani, Giacomo Sagripanti, Lukas Karytinos, Lorenzo Viotti, Giuliano Carella, Fabrizio Maria Carminati, Andrea Battistoni, Guglielmo Garcia Calvo, Nicola Paszkowski, Roberto Rizzi Brignoli, Diego Matheuz, Colin Attard, Pietro Rizzo, Carlo Goldstein, Francesco Ommassini, Andreas Sebastian Weiser, David Svec, Hirofumi Yoshida, Matthias Foremny, Leonardo Sini e Anthony Bramall.
During the 2016/17 season he performed Rigoletto (title role) at the Stuttgart Opera, at the Deutsche Oper of Berlino and at the Oper Frankfurt, Aida (Amonasro) at the Deutsche Oper of Berlino, Tosca (Scarpia) at the National Theatre of Praga and La Traviata (Germont) in Japan (tournée for the Teatro Comunale di Bologna). In the 2017/18 season he sang the role of Stankar in Stiffelio at the Teatro Regio of Parma for the Festival Verdi 2017. Later he returned to play the role of the jester Rigoletto in the theaters of Pavia, Como, Brescia, Cremona, Bergamo e Jesi. La Traviata (Germont) in the theaters of Treviso, Ferrara e Rovigo, and Tosca (Scarpia) at the National Theatre of Praga and at the Teatro Regio of Parma.
For the season 2018/2019: Rigoletto at the Opèra de Toulon, Traviata (Giorgio Germont) at the Teatro Petruzzelli of Bari, il Barone Scarpia at the National Theatre of Prague and Rigoletto at the Bunka Kaikan of Tokio directed by M° Riccardo Muti.
In the season 2019/2020 he sang Marcello in La Boheme under the direction of Hugo de Ana and Renato in Un ballo in maschera with the direction of Massino Gasparon at the Petruzzelli Theater in Bari under the direction of Maestro Gianpaolo Bisanti.
He sang in the season 2021/2022 Giorgio Germont in the new production of Traviata at the Opera de Limoges and Scarpia in the new production of Tosca at the Coccia Theater in Novara conducted by Maestro F. M. Carminati and directed by R. Bonaiuto and in the season 2023 he sung Giorgio Germont at the Massimo Bellini di Catania conducted by Maestro Josè Cura and directed by Svoboda/Brockhaus.
In the 2024 season he recently made his debut as Lord Enrico Ashton in Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor at the Bellini in Catania conducted by Maestro Stefano Ranzani and directed by Giandomenico Vaccari and Ezio in Verdi’s Attila at the Bunkamura in Tokyo under the direction of Maestro Riccardo Muti.
He created the recording and DVD of the opera Stiffelio by G. Verdi with the Orchestra of the Teatro Regio di Parma for the Verdi Festival 2017 for the Naxos / Dynamic labels.
He recorded L ‘Arlesiana di Cilea with the Philharmonisches Orchester of Freiburg for the SWR label.
Graduated from the State Conservatory of Benevento, he specialized in the CUBEC of Vignola, the International Academy of Voice in Turin and the International Academy of Opera in Sulmona. Winner of numerous competitions, among which the “Toti Dal Monte”, the “Mattia Battistini”, the “Ruggero Leoncavallo”, the “Mario Lanza”, the “Maria Caniglia”, the “Giacomo Lauri Volpi”, the “As .Li.Co.” of Como and “A. Belli” of Spoleto.
He is currently a singing teacher at the State Conservatory of Music “G. P. Palestrina” in Cagliari.
