George Gagnidze stars in Macbeth at Teatro Carlo Felice Genoa
Baritone George Gagnidze will perform the title role in Macbeth at the Teatro Carlo Felice in May 2026.
One of the most groundbreaking works by Giuseppe Verdi, Macbeth marked a decisive turning point in nineteenth-century opera. Moving away from the romantic conventions of the time, Verdi chose instead to explore ambition, political power, guilt, and psychological torment, placing a baritone character at the very center of the drama.
Inspired by William Shakespeare’s tragedy, the opera unfolds through dark orchestral colors, supernatural visions, and intense dramatic writing, creating one of the most compelling portraits of power and moral collapse in the operatic repertoire.
On the stage of the Teatro Carlo Felice, George Gagnidze will portray Macbeth, the tormented Scottish nobleman whose thirst for power drives him toward destruction.
Performances are scheduled for May 15, 17, 22, and 24, 2026.
