Bass Gaetano Triscari will perform the role of Cancian in I quattro rusteghi at the Teatro Comunale Pavarotti-Freni on February 20 and 22, 2026.

The sparkling comedy of Ermanno Wolf-Ferrari returns to Modena for a historic occasion: the opera will be staged at the Teatro Comunale exactly one hundred years after its last performance there, which took place in 1926.

Inspired by Carlo Goldoni’s celebrated comedy, I quattro rusteghi is a brilliant portrait of Venetian society, filled with humor, misunderstandings, and lively ensemble scenes.

In the role of Cancian, Gaetano Triscari portrays one of the four stubborn “rusteghi,” the conservative and authoritarian figures whose attempts to control family life lead to a series of comic situations.

Blending refined orchestration with theatrical wit, Wolf-Ferrari’s opera remains one of the gems of the Italian comic repertoire, continuing to charm audiences with its elegance and timeless humor.
