Conductor Dmitri Jurowski returns to the Teatro Filarmonico di Verona, Italy, on November 6 and 7, 2026, leading the Orchestra of Fondazione Arena di Verona in the final symphonic programme of the theatre’s 2026 season.
The engagement marks another chapter in Jurowski’s artistic relationship with Fondazione Arena, bringing him back to the podium for a programme centred on Johannes Brahms’s Serenade No. 2 in A major, Op. 16 and Johann Nepomuk Hummel’s celebrated Trumpet Concerto in E-flat major, featuring internationally acclaimed trumpet soloist Sergej Nakarjakov.
The concerts also represent a significant moment in the orchestra’s history, introducing two works to the Teatro Filarmonico’s repertoire for the first time in more than fifty years of activity.

Dmitri Jurowski at Teatro Filarmonico
The November concerts mark the return of Dmitri Jurowski to the Teatro Filarmonico, where he made his debut with the artistic ensembles of Fondazione Arena di Verona during the 2006 Symphonic Season. Following his return in 2025 for a programme dedicated to Dmitri Shostakovich, Jurowski once again leads the orchestra in a concert highlighting the expressive range and distinctive orchestral language of the nineteenth-century repertoire.
At the centre of the programme stands Brahms’s Serenade No. 2 in A major, Op. 16, an early orchestral composition distinguished by its unusual instrumentation and refined exploration of instrumental colour. Written for a reduced ensemble without violins, the work offers a distinctive balance of warmth, transparency and structural sophistication.
Alongside Brahms, Hummel’s Trumpet Concerto in E-flat major brings a contrasting display of virtuosity and classical elegance. The concerto features Sergej Nakarjakov, whose international career has established him among the most distinguished trumpet soloists of his generation.
The programme also includes Franz Schubert’s Overture in D major “In the Italian Style,” D. 590, adding a lively and theatrical dimension to the evening.
For Jurowski, the concert offers an opportunity to explore the interplay between classical clarity, instrumental virtuosity and Romantic orchestral expression.
His extensive international career encompasses both symphonic and operatic repertoire, with engagements at leading institutions including the Bavarian State Opera, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Semperoper Dresden, Opéra national de Paris, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Teatro La Fenice, Teatro Real Madrid and the Bolshoi Theatre.
As a symphonic conductor, he has collaborated with orchestras such as the BBC Philharmonic, Dresden Philharmonic, Hamburg Symphony Orchestra, Vienna Symphony Orchestra, Shanghai Philharmonic and St. Petersburg Philharmonic.
His artistic activity reflects a broad musical perspective, embracing German and Russian Romanticism, twentieth-century repertoire and the relationship between symphonic structure and dramatic expression.
The Verona engagement brings this experience to a programme that combines the orchestral imagination of Brahms with the brilliance of Hummel’s concerto, concluding Fondazione Arena’s 2026 Symphonic Season at the Teatro Filarmonico.
