Adriano Gramigni appears as Il re in Giuseppe Verdi’s Aida with Teatro dell’Opera di Roma at Circo Massimo, continuing his work in the composer’s bass repertoire. Performances are scheduled for 12, 15, 18, 22, 26, and 28 July 2026.

In Aida, Il re represents the political and ceremonial authority of the Egyptian state. Although concise, the role requires vocal weight, textual clarity, and the ability to establish the opera’s public world alongside Ramfis, Amneris, and Radamès.

Gramigni’s appearance in Rome follows a closely related Aida engagement earlier in 2026, when he performed Ramfis at the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing. The two roles occupy different positions within the same dramatic structure: Il re embodies dynastic and state authority, while Ramfis represents religious power.

The Rome engagement also continues Gramigni’s recent work in Verdi roles, including Lodovico in Otello at Teatro Massimo Palermo and Tom in Un ballo in maschera at Maggio Musicale Fiorentino.
